Jacks Corner Pub Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
Jacks Corner Pub is a neighborhood gay bar with a small stage and a few pool tables. But every Thursday and the last Saturday of every month check the place out for their ultra-hot Sweatin' parties (theme parties organized for alternative/punk rock queers with a focus on dancing). Also strippers on Tuesdays and special theme party nights on select Saturdays.
Mitchell's Fish Market Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
Hands down the best seafood in the city, Cameron Mitchell's palate-pleasing Mitchell's Fish Market is a crowd pleaser. With two locations in Grandview and Crosswoods, there are more than 80 seafood menu variations to choose from including Kung Pao Fried Calamari, Chilean Sea Bass and Tropical Mahi Mahi. Yum!
Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
Step into the retro downtown diner Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails (in the former location of the now-defunct gay bar The Vine) and you'll notice the eclectic ephemera on the walls is old school Columbus and Ohio flair. Just opened in June 2007, Tip Top is the latest addition from the same feminist restaurant mogul that brought you The Surly Girl Saloon and Betty's Fine Food + Spirits. Tip Top boasts a delicious American diner menu with standout dishes like tasty pot roast, delicious vegan bean dip with veggies and tantalizing carmelized onion soup. Also, the bar features one of the largest and most diverse whiskey lists in the city!
Surly Girl Saloon Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
This Western-themed female-centric bar and diner features some of the best and most unique dishes in the city. Among these are the crunchy, taste-pleasing Frito Pie, the Kick Ass Quesadillas and the Slap Your Bottom Red Bean Hummus. Like cafeteria food with a modern twist. Surly Girl also features microbrews on draught. Open til 2 am every day and the kitchen stays open late!
Dragonfly Neo-V Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
Ranked by USA Today as one of the Top 10 Vegetarian Restaurants in the United States, Dragonfly Neo-V serves upscale, artistic vegetarian fusion cuisine that looks so nice you might not want to eat it. Try a Portobella Leek Tart filled with poached king oyster, confit eggplant and star anise sauce or grilled yellow chard in a sea vegetable dressing.
The Northstar Cafe Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
The Northstar Cafe now boasts two locations (one in the Short North and one in Clintonville). Rarely will you find Northstar when it's not packed to the brim with hungry vegetarians. But the food is really great -- and you go up to a counter, order, sit down and wait for someone to bring it out to you. So there's no tipping a waitress. And while you're waiting, you can browse a fashion or gay rag from the huge magazine rack in the dining area. Not sure what to try? For lunch or dinner, order a huge vegetarian burger served alongside a simple salad... or a scrumptious BBQ burrito served with tortilla chips and salsa... or a tofu-filled Buddha Bowl, which is peanut yogurt sauce with steamed brocolli, carrots, cabbage and rice. For breakfast, definitely nab an egg sandwich and a house blend coffee with soy milk.
Bento Go Go Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
This campus haunt sits next to the popular concert venue The Newport and is a great place to pick up a quick California Roll or a stir fry bowl in the downstairs eatery. The food is decent but the parties are better in the evening. Upstairs afterhours is a trendy sake lounge with local DJs spinning the hottest electronic dance hits against the backdrop of colorful anime. Try a plum juice saketini or a Sapporo Japanese lager.
Barcelona Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
Rated as one of the best date restaurants in Columbus, Barcelona is upscale dining and the food is excellent. The restaurant is situated in the scenic German Village district. Try the zarzuela seafood stew, duck confit and mushroom paella or THE BEST IN MY OPINION: The Barcelona Tapas Platter (marinated salads, jamon serrano, chickpea hummus, roasted roma tomatoes, spiced olives and fresh mozzarella slices). Delish!
The Bar of Modern Art Restaurant Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
Executive Chef Alex Rodriguez (a former NYC chef) moved his talents to Columbus, Ohio for the Bar of Modern Art Restaurant which opened in 2007. The three-story 7-bar nightclub (Voted Best Venue in Columbus by local publications) and art gallery also includes a modern, upscale restaurant. Try the pistachio lamb loin chops served alongside a potato au gratin torte with sauteed California Napa cabbage and proscuitto in roasted plum-cassis sauce. Also test your tastebuds with an experimental dish: Pan-seared sea scallops with ruby red grapefruit, julienne apple, shaved fennel garnish, spaghetti squash and smoked tomatos. Want to really step it up a notch? Wash it down with BOMA's trademark Pickle Martini: Chopin Potato vodka shaken with pickle juice and served with a Kosher pickle wheel.
The Burgundy Room Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
A great place for a glass of wine and tapas shared with friends. I recommend the tuna tartar with fresh mango in a ginger-pineapple dressing with wonton chips and the steamed Prince Edward Island mussels.
The Rusty Bucket Corner Tavern Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
Sit back, grab a "Rusty Bucket of Wings" for only 8 bucks and sample one of the many beers on tap at this neighborhood tavern with tons of locations located in some of Columbus' most upscale burbs: Bexley, Dublin, New Albany, Upper Arlington and Worthington Hills. Try a vodka-infused piece of pineapple, a deep-fried codfish sandwich smothered in cheddar cheese or a mouthwatering gorgonzola sirloin steak. Not healthy but...Yum!
Slammers Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - July 22, 2007
This is a popular lesbian bar. Next to Wall Street, Slammers is one of the best bars for Columbus' gay girl population. Nice pool tables and plenty of beer.
The Score Bar Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - July 13, 2007
A newer addition to the Columbus gay scene, opened in 2007, this is a great place to catch the OSU football games if you're gay and into sports. This gay sports bar also hosts some popular drag queen shows and drink specials on OSU game nights and Columbus Blue Jackets game nights. Oh, and there's free popcorn.
CLOSED: Club Touch Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - July 13, 2007
Club Touch is a newer club opened in 2007 geared toward Columbus' gay and lesbian African-American population. A welcome addition to our progressive and diverse community.
The Closet Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - July 13, 2007
Smaller gay pub nestled nearby Garrett's Saloon on the near East side between German and Merion Village in the sometimes dicey Parsons Avenue area. Karaoke nights are rather popular. Not located in the best neighborhood.
CLOSED: Far Side Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - July 04, 2007
Although the crowd is sometimes varied, this smaller neighborhood bar primarily caters to its lesbian clientele.
Club HOT Bar/Club in Pittsburgh
Posted: July 02, 2007
Club HOT is totally NOT! For one, when you get to the door they tell you that you must have a membership card to enter. Not very welcoming to an out of towner. Then if they're nice enough to let you in, you have to ask someone with a membership card to buy you a drink -- and it's still expensive! Plus, the music was like 10 years old club hits. Really awful place with snotty people. Avoid!
Tribe Bar/Club in Nashville
First to Review - July 02, 2007
Located right next to the large gay danceclub Play, Tribe is a great video bar. I really loved the vibe of this place...and man, Southern men are definitely nice! Recommended.
Play Bar/Club in Nashville
First to Review - July 02, 2007
Two large dancefloors and great drinks! Lots of friendly, smiling gays and an attached showbar with really impressive drag queens. This bar totally changed my view of Nashville having never visited previously. I couldn't recommend this more!
TWIST Bar/Club in Miami
Posted: July 02, 2007
Check out the cabana bar for some of the hottest strippers I've ever seen in my life!
SCORE Bar/Club in Miami
First to Review - July 02, 2007
Good drinks but pricey. Nice drag show.
Oasis Hotel in Key West
Posted: July 02, 2007 Visited: June 2007
This is THE BEST gay guesthouse in Key West. Staying at Oasis allows you access to two other properties owned by the same people -- Coral Tree and Coconut Grove. Clothing optional with sun patios, hot tubs, pools and two rounds of frozen cocktails and appetizers in the evening. Really an amazing place to relax and meet new friends from all over the globe.
Saloon One Bar/Club in Key West
First to Review - July 02, 2007
This is the sleaziest gay bar in Key West, without a doubt. There's handcuffs at the bar. There's paddles free to use on patrons. And there's a back room dungeon where all the action is. Clothing optional and porn on the TV screens. Not for the conservative or reserved gays.
Kwest Bar/Club in Key West
Posted: July 02, 2007
Hot amateur go-go boys. A good place for a lap dance -- but be prepared to tip em!
Bourbon Street Pub Bar/Club in Key West
First to Review - July 02, 2007
A great place to grab a martini and a hook up. And one of the few Key West bars with a sizeable dancefloor. Check out the Garden Bar in the back attached to the adjoining Bourbon Street Complex gay guesthouse. Take a dip in the nearby pool and hot tub. This is really a neat place.
Bobby's Monkey Bar Bar/Club in Key West
First to Review - July 02, 2007
Kind of off the beaten path of the rest of Key West's local gay haunts but a nice, relaxing place to grab a drink.
801 Bourbon Bar Bar/Club in Key West
Posted: July 02, 2007
Always a great drag show almost every night of the week in the upstairs bar. A great place for out-of-towners/tourists to check out. The smaller, intimate environment is not for the shy. Be prepared to get called out by some of the island's sassiest men in wigs. Featured on CNN and MTV's The Real World.
The Grid 'n Orbit Bar/Club in Cleveland
Posted: July 02, 2007
Without a doubt the hands down best gay club in Cleveland. I always make a point to stop here when in town. Love it!
Leather Stallion Saloon Bar/Club in Cleveland
Posted: July 02, 2007
This place is great! A total dirty, dingy dive of a leather/man's man bar but a hot hangout to slurp back a beer and take in the leather daddies.
Bounce Bar/Club in Cleveland
Posted: July 02, 2007
Bounce is owned by the same owners as Axis Nightclub in Columbus. I wasn't really impressed with the size of this place and the way the dancefloor is built in a circle. Kind of cramped and awkward.
Cocktail Bar/Club in Chicago
First to Review - July 02, 2007
Nice place for a drink and to watch a video at the video bar. Nice pool tables with window views for people watching too.
Betty's Fine Food & Spirits Restaurant in Columbus
Posted: June 30, 2007
Betty's is a great place to take out-of-towners. You'll be immersed in the pinup girl and Betty Page-themed decor. Oh, but the food's good too. Try the delicious grilled salmon niciose salad, chipotle chicken and cream rotini or the fried plantains in yogurt salsa dip.
East Village FOODBAR Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - June 30, 2007
Formerly the old Union Station, East Village FOODBAR (named after NYC's East Village neighborhood) opened its doors June 15, 2007. It is a bar and restaurant geared towards lesbians, but the crowd is also sometimes mixed. The food is slightly less expensive than Union Bar + Food (the other notable GLBT restaurant down the street). Recommended.
Haiku Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - June 30, 2007
Highly recommended pan-asian cuisine. During lunch, all meals come with a small salad with ginger viniagrette dressing and miso soup. During dinner, try the delicious sauce-heavy crunchy noodle pillows and a variety of handmade sushi rolls (try the Philly Roll and Salmon Skin Roll). Absolutely delicious food amidst a contemporary asian decor. Patio dining as well. Located right next to Union Bar + Food, a gay-friendly bar and restaurant.
Marcella's Ristorante Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - June 30, 2007
Marcellas opened its doors in June 2007 and finding a table at this esteemed Cameron Mitchell tapas/small plates diner is sometimes a chore on Friday and Saturday nights... but if you can grab a seat then try the tantalizing cheese and meat trays, share a thin crust homemade pizza or share a plate of roasted peppers and beef carpaccio. This restaurant is all about sharing -- so bring friends! And afterwards, don't forget the Tiramisu -- it's to die for!
CLOSED: The 8 Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - June 30, 2007
Delicious American fusion-style cuisine by resident chef Ben Graham. Try the tasty parmesean caesar salad, the deep-fried calamari with spicy mayo and the pulled pork sandwich with cabbage. Food served til 1 a.m. Sample a martini from the nearby bar and enjoy the vibrant red decor and bumping electronic music.
Lemongrass Fusion Bistro Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - June 30, 2007
As if there already aren't enough fusion-style, contemporary small plate restaurants in the Short North, Lemongrass doesn't disappoint with its varied, colorful entrees and huge sushi menu. The decor: Upbeat, modern, elegant. The food: Always delicious.
The Happy Greek Restaurant in Columbus
First to Review - June 30, 2007
From 5 to 7 p.m. every weekday enjoy $4 Greek appetizers and $4 gyros (with fries included), as well as $2 domestics and $3.50 import beers and only $3 martinis. Also try the vegetarian platter (the grape leaves are terrific) and the hummus and tabouli. The saganaki (flaming cheese) is also a crowd pleaser.
Wall Street Bar/Club in Columbus
Posted: October 26, 2006
Lesbian nightclub on all nights except Wednesdays when boys invade the place. One of the largest and best nightclubs in Columbus!
Union Bar + Food Bar/Club in Columbus
Posted: October 26, 2006
Highly recommended as a must when visiting the city!
Tradewinds II Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - October 26, 2006
Tradewinds is a large older male gay bar. The crowd is mostly older bears, fetish and truck driver types. I LOVE THIS PLACE!
Somewhere Else Bar/Club in Columbus
Posted: October 26, 2006
One of the best bars for female illusionists in Columbus. Very small however.
Q Bar and Lounge Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - October 26, 2006
This bar just opened in 2006 and has earned quite a following. The decor is contemporary and art adorns the walls. The dancefloor is smaller yet is never shy of eye candy. Recommended.
Pyramid II Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - October 26, 2006
Quaint yet surprisingly nice. Conveniently located to the new Q Bar and Lounge -- stop by here before or after for a break from the more packed Q Bar.
Club Diversity Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - October 26, 2006
This is a cute, surprisingly upscale lounge bar, suitable for dates or an outing with friends. The bar is situated within an old house and this adds to the charm of the location. Outside are gazebos that are perfect in the summer months. Some nights feature a piano bar and singers.
Havana Video Lounge Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - October 26, 2006
Havana is without a doubt my favorite gay bar in Columbus. The crowd isn't as young as Axis and yet isn't as old as Tradewinds. This bar is mostly a lounge-type place but plays great music and serves some of the best martinis in town.
CLOSED: Garrett's Saloon Bar/Club in Columbus
Posted: October 26, 2006
Although not in the best of neighborhoods, Garrett's Saloon is a great place for drag shows, strip shows and more. Mostly country western and cowboy themed.
WOOFS Bar & Grille Bar/Club in Columbus
Posted: October 26, 2006
Woofs is a great neighborhood bar and one of the only bars that is not centrally located in the city district but instead picked the East side's largely surburban location. Although the bar is small and used to be a strip club (so there's lots of mirrors and such), it is a great place for bears and others alike. Particularly busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Theme nights on weekends and karaoke and strippers throughout the week. For more info: www.woofscolumbus.com
AWOL Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - October 26, 2006
AWOL is THE place to be on Monday nights for Karaoke! Although the bar is kind of run-down and divey, the crowd is usually lively and fun.
Exile Bar/Club in Columbus
First to Review - October 26, 2006
Sleazy small hole-in-the-wall establishment that is busy on Saturdays for Blackout party nights and also has some interesting theme nights throughout the week including karaoke and bondage/S&M parties.

First to Review - October 26, 2006
Excellent food and a great sports bar atmosphere. Really busy during OSU game nights and open for lunch and dinner (try the pulled pork or Hawaiin Burger...delicious!)
