    Great!

I'm not into leather or kink, but I've always been curious about the goings on inside a real hardcore leather bar. So, I ditched the designer duds, covered up my fancy haircut with a baseball cap, and went there wearing a muscle T, a pair of jeans, and a pair of leather boots that I usually wear only when I travel up north during winter. I was very pleasantly surprised. You won't find any drag divas or sissy boys in this place---mostly hunky, beefy, muscle men and some really HOT looking ones, too. Not all of these guys are hairy bears, or into kink. Some are pretty vanilla but they prefer to hang out there than the high-profile dance clubs because they're only interested in other masculine, down-to-earth muscle men. Some were definitely the type that I would totally go for---tall, muscular, and extremely good looking. True there's a little bit of sleaze going on, but nobody cares. You get into only what you want to get into. I mean, some of them seemed gruff, mean, and very scary when you look at them. But they were the friendliest and most down-to-earth bunch of people I had EVER met in a club anywhere. I had a great time there, even though all I did was stare at beautiful Tom of Finland types until I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head. Great fun! I will go back there again.

    A cool bar

Twist has been around for a very long time, perhaps longer than any other gay bar/dance club on South Beach. Its a fun bar, always full of down-to-earth men. You definitely won't find the pretty, Prada-wearing, poser boys here but I've seen some pretty hot guys there on the occasions when I went. Its got different rooms with different type of music, so you can move around according your taste. Admittedly, its a bit on the sleazy side though. Still, I think its one of the better gay bars/clubs on South Beach and in all of Miami. All of the really good gay clubs that used to be on South Beach either closed down or went hetero years ago. That's why the real party people used to head north to Fort Lauderdale to hang out at the Coliseum on the weekends. If you're the type of person who has sophisticated taste you probably will not enjoy hanging out in Twist. Its just not set up to appeal to a high-profile clientele.

    Overrated

Score is more of a 'seen' bar than a 'scene' bar, in that, 99% of the people who go there are there only to pose and be seen. The music is ok, but the staff aren't too friendly and the crowd that hangs out there are just a bunch of vain, strung out, attention-seeking people pretending to have fun. Its also a very EXPENSIVE club so don't go there unless you have a lot of $$$ to blow. The over-priced drinks and tips can quickly empty your wallet if you go in there with less than at least a few hundred dollars on any given night. I will never go back there.

    Nice

This is the only gay hip hop dance clubs that I know of in the entire south Florida area. And it is good fun. This club is mostly a hangout for African American and Latino men (and the men that admire them), and let me tell you the energy in this place is so high that you're probably going to lose some weight just from dancing in there for a few hours. These boys can dance...and I don't mean the lame shuffling that you'll see in any of the other clubs. I mean REAL dancing. One thing thats undeniable about Club Boi is that the people who come there are there for one reason only: to have an awesome time. You won't find many of the 'look-at-me-I've-got-my-shirt-off' poser people here.

    Great place...

If you like being hustled, that is. The general setup of this place isn't very patron-friendly. The hustlers and go go boys begin to shake you down the minute you walk in, and some of them are very aggressive. I don't mind stuffing bills in a go go boy's G-string as long as he's hot, friendly, and puts on a good show. Most gay men are probably the same way because they go to gay stripper bars like the Boardwalk specifically for this reason. But here's the problem, some of these dancers are straight and its very obvious. Some of them also aren't that great looking or in all that great shape, and they don't know how to dance or how to put on a really fun stripper act. Not that a straight guy can't pull of a strip show in a gay club. We've all seen them do it many times in other clubs. But there's just something about the Boardwalk to me, it seems; they're more about milking the crowd than they are about fun and entertainment. The people who own this joint should spend a weekend at the male strip clubs in Vegas to see how its really done.

No so hot, but not the worst

To be fair, this club has improved quite a bit over the years. It used to be a bit of a dive, but now it looks and feels more like a real dance club. It pulls a decent size crowd on a Saturday night, but pretty much dead every other night. The drink prices are good, the bartenders are friendly, and the crowd is very social. But the minute you walk in you can tell that this is not the place where the hot crowd and the real party people hang out. In other words, if you're looking for really hot men, you're probably not going to find them here but if you just want a place to hang out and dance its ok. The music is hit or miss, and sometimes it really sucks. The volume of the sound is also waaaaay too loud, but I like the multi-level set up, and I also like that they don't gouge you with outrageous cover charges like the other clubs.

This place has seen better days

I live in Ft. Lauderdale, and years ago this bar used to be the place where EVERYBODY hung out especially on Sunday afternoons/evenings. It used to be a really cool place, whether you were there to pose, hang out with friends, or meet people. They had decent drink prices and good service from the bartenders. Tried the food there a few times after they started doing that but didn't care much for it and found it a bit over-priced. The change to smoke-free was a good one. Hadn't been there in years, until a couple weeks ago. Now it seems the place has gone down quite a bit. The hot men who used to hang out there aren't there anymore. Now its mostly middle age guys who don't seem to get that they're not young anymore, tourists, and a lot of posers who think they're hot stuff. Very, very fake ambiance and too many too-loud flat screen TVs all over the place. Worst of all the service is terrible. Overall not such a great place to hang out at all. I wouldn't recommend it.
