Blue Genes Bar/Club in Nashville
Posted: November 14, 2009
The bar has some couches, tables, and a pool table. I went on a tuesday at 8:00 pm with some friends. There's a really big regular crowd here, but don't let that deter you, they're friendly and can hold quite the conversation. This bar is 21+, smoking allowed (unfortunately), I prefer to smoke outside. No music was played, there was just news on (also playing on the numerous televisions). An older crowd.

I was in Nashville for a conference by myself, decided to hit the bar solo. I had an amazing time. Best drag show I've seen, ever. Two large rooms--ones for drag shows, and drinking, the other's for dancing. There were as many guys as girls, (and almost same gay-straight ratio, though mostly straight girls). Ample seating room, though come early to get a table. The open tabs, 20.00 minimum.
The Odyssey Bar/Club in Vancouver

We went around 1 during pride from another bar (another 20.00 cover), and it was amazing. Odyssey was packed (though I didn't have to wait in line--take your shirt of to get in?) of hot, sweaty, dancing shirtless boys. I had so much fun dancing, though everyone I met wasn't from vancouver. I will head back to Odyssey every time I visit.

Went on pride, 20.00 cover though (pride). We went pretty early (10ish), I was asked by 3 separate people if I had E (didn't, I was just dancing by myself shirtless early). Met some cool people that we ended up at a really hot after hours club with. Drinks were reasonably priced at least.
Parking (the Nightclub) Bar/Club in Montreal

Parking was recommend by some locals as a busy bar on Sunday nights. It was decent for a sunday, but I was expecting more from Montreal-gay hot spot. It was also an older crowd, I didn't stay long.
Sky Complex Bar/Club in Montreal

3 floors, many different dance floors, a pool, and a hot tub on the roof. I went in the pool ( wore swim trunks, took shoes off ) with some friends, had so much fun. Drinks are dirt cheap (I'm from Edmonton though). Met lots of great people, everyone spoke french and english, so ordering was easy... though no one knew what a Vodka Slime was (they gave me a shot of vodka with a slice of lime). Will go back with my bf one day next summer.

Check it out on Saturday, it's a much bigger dance floor than the other gay bars in eddy town. But, there's quite a few, how do I say this... straight people there. Not that I'm against it, my best friend has come on a few gay pilgrimages to Montreal and Vancouver for pride--he's straight. It's just that they don't know gay bar etiquette, and can be surprised by drag queens, etc. Just remember, it's our bar, so have fun (safe) anyway. Met my bf there on my birthday. Although I can't remember much of the night, I know I didn't buy a drink.
Buddy's Bar/Club in Edmonton

Thursdays are wet underwear contest. It's surprisingly busy for a thurs (both thursdays my friends entered me in the contest--won both times). Firday nights are busy, cosy dance floor. Definitely don't see as many straight people as other bars. Dance floor has a pole, and a few cages: just grab a friend and jump in. I've been sundays a few times when it's drag, but I go for the pool, they have tables. This is my favourite bar in edmonton, though the others are worth checking out on other days (ie Saturday).
