Belvedere Hotel in Fire Island
Posted: September 03, 2008 Visited: September 2008
Although the Belvedere has undergne some changes and rehap over past couple of years, it still retains a "quaint" style. The rooms, overpriced in my opinion, are fairly clean, quiet for the most part (unless you make your own noise) and comfortable. Nice pool, although quite small and shallow, and good-sized patio and sundeck. The cupola is a great place for sunning, or just enjoying the view of the bay, so that does make it worth spening a night or tow. Not a bad place, certainly better then the Grove Hotel, and it is relatively conveniet to the bars and restaurants. Try it, you might like it!
Island Breeze Restaurant in Fire Island

This summer (2008) the Island Breeze is THE place to be in Cherry Grove. Great 2-for-1 drink specials most afternoons. Excellent Sunday BBQ, I have been told. Meals quite reasonably priced now too, instead of being over-priced and under-whelming in summers past. Great friendly crowd of locals and visitors....A vast improvement over the past few years. Let's hope it holds until next summer!

Great place. Friendly staff, relaxed macho manly crowd. Do yourslef a favor and go there the second Tuesday of each month for FireFlag night. Lots of hunky firefighters, as well as wannabees. But always fun. Great scenery.

Grove Hotel Hotel in Fire Island

My first stay here was OK...I wasn't expecting much, and I knew the place was going to be a mess when I walked into the lobby and saw what an unkempt, dirty dusty place it was. I got the cheapest room, ($100) VERY overpriced. Bathroom was relatively clean, but moldy ceiling. Shower and toilet OK. Walls in room paper thin. No TV. Rooms on backside much quieter than those facing pool.
Tides Bar/Club in Fire Island

Not a bad spot for an afternoon drink after being on the beach all day. I was there in Aug. 2006, during a nice hot spell. Happy hour drinks were two-for-one! Nice live piano music too.
