64 / M New Orleans, Louisiana In a relationship
I have a wonderful lover, who is everything I ever hoped for :-)
Lived in San Francisco for 22 years. Also lived in Paris and Chicago.
We both like to explore places where regular, pleasant men hang out.
And we like clothing optional places too :-) Partner is Danish, and we are both Francophiles and Europhiles.
We rent out our apartments in Nice, France (French Riviera), and soon
in Fort Lauderdale.

ACME Oyster House Restaurant in New Orleans
Posted: November 20, 2009 - Visited: November 2009
We always get to the airport early when we are leaving New Orleans so we can have a dozen oysters at the Acme Oyster cafe at Louis Armstrong Airport. They also serve Red Beans & Rice and other seafood specialties. It's a wonderful parting interlude-- perfect way to extend your New Orleans visit to the last moment :-)
Napoleon House Restaurant in New Orleans
First to Review - November 20, 2009
When you step through the doors here, you are stepping through time back to Paris of the late 1700's. Seriously. The Napoleon House is a restaurant/bar/bistro/cafe all in one. Famous for their old-world atmosphere, classical music, and chess players-- and their great bistro food and sandwiches, such as the New Orleans Italian classic Muffuletta sandwich made with ham, Genoa salami, pastrami, swiss cheese, provolone cheese and housemade Italian olive salad-- this place is practically a must.
Lunch and dinner-- open late except Mondays (close at 5pm) and closed Sundays. (Oh, Napoleon never actually made it to his exile here. He died in 1821 three days before he was to sail. Stop at the nearby Cabildo and see his death mask,)
Croissant D'Or Patisserie Restaurant in New Orleans
First to Review - November 20, 2009
French chef and owner, Gerard, loves baking, and it shows. The raspberry croissants are my favorite (also almond). And for lunch, I favor the Parisian baguette sandwiches Gerard makes with your choice of Ham & Swiss, Turkey, Tuna or Chicken Salad. There's also a special hot soup of the day. Very reasonable prices-- maybe the least expensive cappuccinos and lattes in town.
Open 6:30 am to 2 pm only. Closed Tuesdays.
Cafe du Monde Restaurant in New Orleans
First to Review - November 20, 2009
The whole world comes here (maybe that's why it's called Café of the World in French). Dating from the Civil War era (1862), this institution is still going strong. Every visitor is told he MUST try the beignets (French doughnuts) and café au lait at this coffee house, located across from Jackson Square. (The other 2 "must-do's" are riding the St. Charles Ave. Streetcar in the American Sector, and walking down rowdy and lewd Bourbon Street-- and exploring the French Quarter, of course.)
Feelings Cafe d'Aunoy Restaurant in New Orleans
First to Review - November 20, 2009
Feelings Cafe d'Aunoy was part of a plantation, and you can feel it in every pore of the structure. It's a piece of antiquity that is enjoyed to this day by the loyal fans of this place. Dale and Jim have had a gay following for years, as well as those who appreciate excellent French-Creole dishes served in a bygone atmosphere. The piano bar and courtyard are fun anytime, and there's a live piano player every Friday night in the bar. Favorite dishes are the
Seafood Baked Eggplant, Veal D'Aunoy, and Gulf Fish Nicolas. Open for Dinner Thursday-Sunday and Sunday brunch. A Marigny gem highly cherished.
The Orange Couch Restaurant in New Orleans

"Coolest" spot in the Marigny?
Open 7am till 10pm daily. The handsome owner, San Francisco native Johnnie Sanders, moved here from San Francisco, where he owned and operated a coffee shop in the Tender-Nob (where the Tenderloin meets Nob Hill). He was taken by the warm and welcoming neighborhood of the Marigny, where he instantly felt that he wanted to be part of this community. Now, it's a success-- with entertainment some nights, readings, great coffee, snacks, ice cream-- and Vietnamese lunches offered each Friday. Great wi-fi crowd of locals and visitors. Very tech-savvy clientele-- on the younger side. Very bright and interesting people congregate here, and the offerings are delicious.
Marigny Brasserie Restaurant in New Orleans
First to Review - November 19, 2009
Roland, the owner, welcomes you to enjoy his innovative Creole and Classic American cuisine. This fabulous brasserie anchors Restaurant Row on Frenchmen Street in the Marigny. It's gay-owned, but frequented by the city's most sophisticated diners (and also those who just like good tasting food :-) There are 13 restaurants and 10 live music clubs on this two-block strip. The gay bookstore is also on this block at the other end. One look at the menu online and you'll be sold on this place. Famous also for their Sunday brunch with live music. Open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
Bywater Barbeque Restaurant in New Orleans
First to Review - November 19, 2009
Easy-going, relaxed Bywater eatery. Po-boy sandwiches, hot plates, local specialties, seafood, full bar. Fun place to meet up with friends. One block from the gay Country Club. Soft-shell crab Benedict, Crab Cakes Benedict-- great weekend brunch, and daily breakfast menu (Huevos Rancheros). Fun staff. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Closed Wednesdays.
Cake Cafe Restaurant in New Orleans

The Challah bread is excellent here. This New Orleans version of a Jewish inspired deli is naturally quite different from everywhere else. Owners Allison & Steve have succeeded in creating a Berkeley (California) kind of atmosphere in the vibe and in the gentle, laid-back clientele it attracts. My favorite dish for lunch is the Lump crab meat, Spinach and Melted Brie sandwich on Challah toast. Incredible! Open 7am to 3pm Tues. thru Sun. (Closed Mondays)
Commander's Palace Restaurant in New Orleans

Top restsurant in New Orleans. Flagship for the Brennan family. You can get a seat in the main dining room on non-event occasions. Just ask :-)Submitted via GayCities iPhone application
La Peniche Restaurant in New Orleans
First to Review - November 17, 2009 - Visited: November 2009
This is "the family kitchen" for the Marigny neighborhood. Waiters and clients usually know each other, and many if not most, are gay. But, the stars like it too. Alec Baldwin winked at me here from his table when he caught me staring at his long eyelashes :-) It's good, Southern, New Orleans comfort food. Daily specials every day, and full bar. Great shrimp po-boys served on that great local French bread. Sometimes the waiters are a bit campy-- just adding to the fun experience. Open 24 hours Thursday through Monday. (Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.)
(By the way, La Peniche means "the barge" in French, as some walls are made of wood from barges coming down the Mississippi River, which were disassembled once they arrived and used to build homes.)
La Dauphine B&B Hotel in New Orleans
First to Review - November 16, 2009 - Visited: January 2009
Small, gay-owned B&B. Just walk 4 blocks to French Quarter. Two blocks to Frenchmen Street clubs, restaurants and bistros (13 restaurants; 10 live music clubs). Near Phoenix gay men's bar. Funky, fun old house with high ceilings and four-poster beds. A "blast from the past." For laid-back guests. Clothing optional Country Club (pool and spa restaurant) about 8 blocks away. Robes, hair-dryers, free Wi-Fi, piano room, library. Outdoor patio garden. Nice, knowledgeable, well-traveled hosts.
Sukho Thai Restaurant in New Orleans
First to Review - November 13, 2009
Delicious Thai food. Ask for "Mild" if you want to enjoy your meal :-)
At this place, Mild is equivalent to New Orleans hot and spicy. Try the Dancing Shrimp Salad, Shrimp in a Pouch, and the Green Curry (or anything on the menu). A mainstay of the neighborhood, popular for both lunch and dinner.
The wait staff is cute and friendly. Don't worry about who's gay and who's not in New Orleans. It's kind of like San Francisco-- every place is somewhat gay. And they're all extremely gay friendly. Half the waiters in the city are artists, performers, writers, teachers, etc.--- all creative people-- very accepting (or gay themselves).
CCBC Resort Hotel Hotel in Palm Springs

Sexually-charged is the key word. And you should appreciate older men to enjoy a stay here. Almost all are over 40, and most are in their 50's and 60's. If you are not an ageist, and you are looking for "fun in the sun" in a beautiful atmosphere, this is the place. The men are quite handsome, frisky and friendly. Our room was clean and pleasant, with nice white linens, robes and towels. A picture window is in each room, so you can look outside at the grounds, as well as the naked men strolling by. You would only find it disgusting if you are anti-sex or anti-age (or both). So, stay somewhere less sexually charged and with a younger crowd if that's what you like. We will return this March. Sometimes the place is so busy, it's all the staff can do to just keep up with the flow of check ins. The grounds and pools are beautiful.
Restaurant August Restaurant in New Orleans

In a city famous for its restaurants, this place is right up there. Chef John Besh is talented, handsome, and engaging.
His dishes and presentations are sophisticated and inspiring.
(And they taste good too! :-)
Really. As the waiters say: "Excellent choice, sir."
We went here for our anniversary and were treated like royalty.
EAT Restaurant in New Orleans
Posted: November 13, 2009 - Visited: November 2009
We eat here often. It's great. Friendly gay staff and lots of local specialties on the menu. Saturday and Sunday brunches are super, and the daily menu is interesting as well. The food is always good, and sometimes incredibly good :-) Locals come here too-- so that tells you something.
Jack Dempsey's Restaurant in New Orleans
First to Review - November 12, 2009
You will hear the real New Orleans accent here-- the one that sounds like Brooklyn. Singer Fats Domino eats here often (and is played a lot on the juke box). We were seated across from him recently. The seafood is fantastic. It's across the Street from a Naval Base in the Bywater district (next to the Marigny neighborhood), so filled with military guys and natives. A real local treasure. Go for lunch or early dinner, as they close by 8pm (and stop serving 15-30 minutes before).
Try the (almost) all you can eat steamed Dungeness crab for less than $20.00. (Or any seafood dish.)
Mandina's Restaurant in New Orleans
First to Review - November 12, 2009
PLEASE NOTE: Credit cards are not accepted here. Cash only. No reservations. Located in Mid-City area.
This is a legendary New Orleans eatery. Been around forever-- even before air conditioning :-) Their po-boy sandwiches are served on the oh so fresh Leidenheimer bakery's French bread. Their fried oysters have no trace of oil on the batter, and the inside melts in your mouth. Free parking lot. Located on outer Canal Street on the Canal street car line. Or, drive, or take a taxi from the French Quarter. Worth the trip.

Inn Leather Hotel in Fort Lauderdale
Posted: November 11, 2009 - Visited: October 2009
The place is not dirty at all. It's quite clean. You can feel relaxed being nude everywhere. I did notice that the crowd is quite "body conscious", and there are not enough older fellows for us. This is where you go to see the kind of guys featured in the leather magazines. Many are quite spectacular, if not totally perfect. I just wish there were some more "average Joe's" around for us regular fellas.
If anyone knows a nude place in Fort Lauderdale where there are more guys over 40, 50 & 60, let me know :-)
I have checked out Slammer, and it's FANTASTIC!!! But, what about a place to stay like the old Sun n' Surf?
Pamalu Hotel in Hawaii
First to Review - November 11, 2009 - Visited: January 2009
Pamalu is located on 5 acres in the rural Puna coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. We stayed here for a week. It's gay owned and you wind up meeting lots of interesting people-- both locals and guests.
We spent a lot of time at the clothing-optional beach, and exploring the volcanoes, blow holes and hiking. The scenery just begs for you to explore it-- lush, tropical, warm and wonderful. This rustic coastal community is made up of lots of ex-hippies-- so it's VERY laid back, relaxing and accepting-- a paradise for gays.
The biodiversity is stunning. You don't book online. Instead, you phone Randolph and chat with him about your stay :-) You may also email him.
De Kas Restaurant in Amsterdam
First to Review - November 11, 2009 - Visited: January 2009
One of the most unique restaurants anywhere. You can be assured of fresh food, as the offerings are based on each day's harvest. This place is a real experience. The menu is set and you just sit back and enjoy it. There are tables outside for when the weather is warm. You can have a glass of wine outside, then move inside for the meal. Lunch is less expensive than dinner. You can just take a taxi there from the city center.
Aux Trois Petits Cochons Restaurant in Paris
First to Review - November 08, 2009 - Visited: January 2009
Located in the gay Montorgueil area.
I like this gay-owned and run restaurant more than La Tour d'Argent. It is classic French cooking done to perfection. A 3-course meal is usually about 31 euros, and it's worth every sous. The handsome staff is professional and gay. It's sheer delight to visit this place. My favorite dish is the magret de canard, but everything is excellent here.
Ten Thousand Waves Spa Resort & Hotel Hotel in Santa Fe
First to Review - November 06, 2009
This place is a retreat-- a day spa (& overnight rooms), offering saunas, jacuzzi, tea, coffee and light snacks-- massages, private jacuzzi "rooms" for couples, etc. The ultimate in serene luxury-- all with Japanese aesthetic and decor.
It's also the only place in Santa Fe that you can be naked with people together. They provide robes, but you remove the robe to use the jacuzzi or sauna. Semi-gay. Private women only facilities also.
315 Restaurant and Wine Bar Restaurant in Santa Fe
First to Review - November 06, 2009 - Visited: November 2008
We have lived in Santa Fe part time for some years now and become friendly with the chef Louis Moskow. He used to cook in New Orleans before opening up his own place in Santa Fe. An evening here is well spent. The food is the star-- served in a sophisticated and pleasant atmosphere-- usually quiet and demure. It's not a noisy place. The wine selection is superb. Ask what the specials are. They are often the best things to order.
Zuni Cafe Restaurant in San Francisco
First to Review - November 06, 2009
Love the Mediterranean food and the nooks and crannies atmosphere. Inside it feels something like a pueblo in the upstairs part-- designed for people watching and to let in light and air. But, the food is the star. I have been going there for all of its 30 years. Try the raw oysters, the Caesar salad or their great hamburgers. Wonderful bar.
You will love their upscale atmosphere (yes, very yuppie-- but most agreeably so :-) About $50 per person. You can easily stroll here from the Castro.
Delfina Restaurant in San Francisco
Posted: November 06, 2009 - Visited: March 2009
As the other reviewer says, the food is more continental than Italian. The main quality of the food is that everything is super fresh and that adds to the great flavor. The restaurant is fun and exciting and noisy, and you love every minute of being there. I am a great fan of this place and the chef.
Sun City Bathhouses/Saunas in Paris
First to Review - November 04, 2009
Visiting here is like visiting one of the 7 Wonders of the World. There are 1,000 lockers in this bath house next to Le Depot (with same owners).
Incredible. I guess this place has the most beautiful young guys in Paris, and in the most beautiful gay setting on 3 floors.
Although the clientele is 97% young guys, the staff does not discriminate against older gays.
Lots of standing and modeling, but you never know what might happen :-) Located where the Marais meets Montorgueil neighborhood.
Euro Men's Club Bathhouses/Saunas in Paris
First to Review - November 03, 2009
Always 200 or so men in a luxurious Roman setting. Most active all afternoon-- no one there by 8 or 9 pm, when it closes. A dream come true for admirers of men in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. Absolute heaven. Metro stop: Bourse.
Copenhagen Gay Center Bathhouses/Saunas in Copenhagen
First to Review - November 03, 2009
This is by far the most active place you will find for men in Copenhagen. No standing and modeling here. Just male to male action. It's kind of a sauna with bookstore on the outside. Inside are several cinema rooms and play areas. Some people are nude, some wrapped in a towel, and some in street clothes. They especially welcome masculine men in their 30's on up. Most seem to be in their 40s. This is in the Red Light district, but still safe.
Napoleon's Itch Bar/Club in New Orleans

The Phoenix Bar Bar/Club in New Orleans
Posted: October 25, 2009
Rather than just the leather crowd, this bar serves the community of masculine men who like other masculine men.
The guys you see in magazines are few and far between here. They're just regular guys in jeans and T-shirts. But,
they are not stand-offish. Upstairs is a dark, dark bar where things happen after 10 pm. More crowded on weekends. Definitely a place for the over 40 and 50- who are most welcomed here. Not body-conscious- so every "type" comes here.
Lafitte's - Cafe Lafitte in Exile Bar/Club in New Orleans
Posted: October 25, 2009
Almost an institution, this gay bar is nearly 60 years old-- and in the same location. It's a friendly, fun, noisy bar with lots of frolicking. It's always been a good place to meet people. When people say older crowd, they just mean there's a wide range of ages-- not just twinks and disco bunnies (who more likely are hanging out at Oz and the Bourbon Pub).
The Country Club Restaurant in New Orleans
First to Review - October 25, 2009
Inexpensive, wonderful spa type food, fish special dinner plate everyday. Tapas, seafood, pizza. Served in their dining rooms, or poolside. A real treat. Wonderful bar and wine list. Restaurant is rated VERY favorably in the Zagat guide for New Orleans.

This MUST be the cruisiest place in Fort Lauderdale.
And things happen!!! No standing and modeling here.
If you like cruising and no action-- this is NOT the place for you. This place is for the VERY active. Frankly, it's WILD!
Don't go here if you're too shy.
