***** New England Fish Shop in SF, Lobster Rolls anyone?
    Posted: February 16, 2010
First, it's a bit of a stretch to say this is the Castro. It's in the "crossroads" between the Castro and other hoods. I'm not sure if I'd recommend this to a traveler, but certainly to locals. (Travelers should check out Anchor Oyster Bar on Castro). That having been said, I had a terrific meal here. THe food isn't too expensive, the atmosphere is busy without feeling crowded and the waitstaff is smart and fun. I had a great Halibut and my friend had crab, both were successes. I can't wait to get back and try the Lobster Rolls (maybe go for lunch). Well worth a visit.

    ***** A real SF institution

The Castro theatre is one of those amazing old movie houses that still hints at it's old beauty. It's of another time where people would pack into single theatres to watch one movie. These days they have live shows, the frameline gay film festival (among other festivals) and art pics and mainstream pics too. I love the organ player who plays while you are waiting to see a film, it's worth going early to hear.

    ***** Okay food, fun atmosphere

You don't really come to Harvey's because the food is great, but it's actually not bad. The hamburgers are really great and the salads good too (but I'm not much of a salad person). But the wait staff is always flirty, the other patrons are way gay and if you can get a window seat you can be entertained by the passersby in this, the heart of the Castro.

***** Good for after the ballet/opera
    First to Review - February 12, 2010
I have often stopped here (or in their little attached cafe) for a great dessert after a show. It's within walking distance of the opera house (ballet & opera) and the symphony (where I saw Kathy Griffin). It's great for dessert and the dinner's pretty good too. Only real complaint is that it's a bit small so always seems crowded. I heard recently that they would be closing later this year, sad if it's true, so get it while you can.

***** Why eat at an Arby's?
    First to Review - February 02, 2010
I\'ve only been here for breakfast a few times - but I\'m a fan. Their omelets are great, actually they are big enough for two people to share and still leave stuffed. They have omelet specials and have had some pretty creating combinations - all of which have been delicious (most recently a salsa and bean omelet). Their egg dishes come with cheese potatoes or roasted potatoes - both of which are very good. I have to say I\'m not crazy about their bagels (tasted more like normal bread than a bagel) but I\'m happy sticking with the omelets. The coffee is great, too. It is always easy to find a table on weekend mornings - unlike some of the other breakfast joints in town.\r\n\r\n The brunch food? Pretty off the charts really. The French onion soup was amazing. Initially I was taken aback to see it come out with no cheese on top, a sin in French onion-ry that is unacceptable, but to my delight it was just put in the bottom of the bowl, but the flavor was so good I forgave the transgression. My sandwich was completely unmaneuverable, the chicken and veggies were stacked to high that I could not even begin to get my mouth around it. I settled for the cut and fork method and enjoyed the curried chicken salad. The curry flavor was mild and delightful, the only thing that could improve on the sandwich would be more red onion.\r\n\r\nSmall Nit-Pick...The soup spoons are entirely too small and make eating soup a tragically messy experience, I felt like such a slob. But to my amusement, a lady at another table mentioned the same thing to the server. (Though I\'m sure the comment was lost forever and will never get to management.)\r\n\r\nLike I said, I\'ll go back, but I won\'t be in a hurry, it\'s kinda out of my way anyway.
