Sunday Afternoons / Eve
It's awesome anytime in the afternoon & evening. Relaxing good time. After 6pm you have to pay a couple bucks. The crowd changes about 8pm.
OVERVIEW - LOCATION & EXPECTATIONS
Its really the only gay beach in San Diego and its nude, if you choose to be. Getting to it is similar to following a hidden treasure map. Look for Torrey Pines Gliderport. Its off hwy 5 at UCSD. Youll pass the glider port on an open bumpy dirt parking area. Go to the farthest Northern end and park. Youll see the small sign pointing to the trail. Its a "goat trail" along a steep cliff, which keeps the gawkers outs. The alternate easier route is to park at the glider port and take the path to the left of the Port. Then walk the beach North until you see naked sexy people You cant miss em. Theyll be just past the naked volleyball players. Pack sandals for the beach. But wear sneakers or similar grip shoes because of the narrow dirt cliff. Also, its an isolated beach. Going back up the cliff, or the side path of the Port, is a trek that you wont want to repeat twice. Bring plenty of water & some food. If youre there at sunset youll get to see a lot more. You might want to check the marine layer forecast. It can be sunny in Hillcrest, but cloudy at the beach. There are webcams at http://www.blacksbeach.org/
Friday evening hot spot
For visitors, this is the place on Friday evenings between 6 - 8pm, particularly in the summer on the rooftop bar. You get a 360 view of San Diego and the ocean and usually a packed house, unless everyone is at MOs.
