I'm an explorer at heart, I love to travel and get a feel for the place I'm going. When I get to another city, I enjoy the sights, I look for great restaurants (I'm a sucker for a nice meal) and I always try to hit the bar/club scene to get a feel for the boys in any town.

    Quality, great drinks, great location
Usually restaurants in Gayborhoods are just awful, but this one bucks that trend. Not quite "fine dining", but the menu and items are interesting and not your run of the mill. The location can't be beat and it was the perfect start to an evening in Boystown. The server was attentive and friendly. Good bet all around.

    Worth every penny
Located right on Ipanema Beach, just a few blocks from the gay section, this hotel is simply stunning. Get an ocean-front room and enjoy your own view of the most beautiful beach. The beds face a wall of glass so you can wake up to that view. And the pool is simply the most remarkable place in the world - it's an infinity pool on the roof overlooking the Dois Irmãos. Get a (really expensive) caipirinha and take it all in. We could only afford one night and then moved to a cheaper hotel, but it was worth it.

    Fine dining in the Castro
The Castro is not known for good food, but Frances changed all that. Amazing food, can't-miss desserts and smart wine choices. All in a small neighborhood feel. Still hard to get reservations but come right when they open or on the late side for one of the 3-4 counter seats.
