Rawhide Bar/Club in New York
Posted: March 17, 2009
I want to agree with two other reviewers of this dirty dumpy dive and oh, yes, let me add the word smelly! The bouncer refused me entrance because I did not have my non drivers ID card and I am 54 years of age! Just one peeringlook at the bartender and I said "Oh, Mary, you need a facial resurrection, honey!" I cannot fathom that this dive has been in operation since 1979. PLEASE avoid this dump at all costs.

Sorry, but once Friends' name changed and ownership changed, I will not step foot in your bar. The new bar name is unappealing and the space will then lose its mass appeal. Also, the lack of a Sunday brunch further necessitates my non-interest in your bar.
CLOSED: Cellblock Phoenix Bar/Club in Phoenix

I stopped in the Cell Block during the week of 04/12/08-04/19/08 on three occasions and thoroughly enjoyed myself there. The bartenders (most notably, black-haired little Tony, who happened to know my deceased friend, Timmy Fiedor) were very friendly. In fact, little Tony saved me the very last Cell Block tee shirt he had at the bar in a size medium and held it for me. He was true to his word! The leather men and boys here are very hot, friendly, and sincere -- not like the leather community in NYC. Yes, I am a NYC-ite! So, keep on keeping on.

Over the last two years, I have frequented the now defunct PhoenixEagle Bar five times now and have thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, the potent cocktails, and bartenders Daddy Ron, Bill F., and Master Steve. They have always made me feel so at home here and it is very sad that the bar has been resurrected to the Retro Bar!

I made a return visit to The Phoenix Eagle from 04/07/07 through 04/12/07 and believe me, this valley hot spot of hot studded leather dads and leather boys continues to shine in the valley of the desert sun! Owner, Bill F. and bartenders, Daddy Ron and Steve pour great, potent cocktails and are genuine and down-home friendly! Go for their Bloody Marys. The cocktails are not watered down like they are in NYC! Wishing The Phoenix Eagle and owner, Bill F. kudos and many years of thriving sucess!
Velocity 2303 Bar/Club in Phoenix
First to Review - May 31, 2007
I visited Velocity 2303 when I vacationed in the valley from 04/07/07 through 04/12/07. The bar was well worth going to. I found it spotlessly clean, professionally staffed by bartenders and barbacks lacking any attitude or arrogance. To be quite frank, they were genuinely friendly!! The same goes for the bar regulars! Hats off also to the music. It was fab! Wishing Velocity 2303 many years of thriving success and thank you to Rick W. for making me feel so at home here. I will be making a return trip to the valley from 06/30/07 through 07/07/07 and will most certainly be back to Velocity 2303!

The Phoenix Eagle goes on record as being the absolute cleanest gay bar I have ever been in. I am a New Yorker, who vacationed in Phoenix from 09/30/06 to 10/04/06. Kudos to Bill, the bar's #1 honcho and what a stud! Hats off, also, to bartenders, Ron and John. The bar is a legacy to the late bosom buddy of mine, Timothy Scott Fiedor (12/30/64-07/03/06), who would have been this bar's barback, if he would have survived. On a ten-point scale, I most certainly rate this club a "10", as to its cleanliness, friendliness, and overall clientele. I will most definitely be back to "the land of the desert sun" to pay another visit to The Eagle/Phoenix in 04/07. Many years of success to your club, my bud, Bill Fischer!!
