The Journeyman Cafe Restaurant in Saugatuck / Douglas
First to Review - August 01, 2008
The food at Journeyman is truly fine. Matt Millard, the chef, was one of the "early adopters" of regional cuisine, and is truly a master ... as much as he can, he uses organic and natural foods, grown to his specifications, from local farmers.
West Michiganians are used to big portions, and if anything, the portions here are a bit small ... and sometimes the prices seem to be oriented toward the Chicago market - which is probably the bulk of the customers.
A less expensive "bistro" is attached to the main restaurant - with good fare, and larger portions.
The wine list is small, but interesting, and fairly priced.
During the day, the bakery is nothing short of remarkable - great to read the paper and enjoy a good cup of coffee ...
Everyday People Cafe Restaurant in Saugatuck / Douglas
First to Review - August 01, 2008 - Visited: August 2008
I am in the specialty food business, and get to many restaurants. Everyday People Cafe is a wonderful, informal restaurant with a menu with well prepared, sometimes unusual items. It gets crowded ... with good reason!
Dunes Resort Bars Bar/Club in Saugatuck / Douglas

The physical plant is very nice, big, and spread out ... well maintained ... with choices in rooms ranging from bunk room to 3 star quality ... nice pool (with a busy bar summer weekend afternoons and some evenings in the week), friendly people.
The bar area has many "environments" ranging from the thumpa-thumpa to a caberet ...
The crowd tends to be a mix of city boys and older city-boi-wannabees.
The only downside is that the prices are very high - but maybe that is because their season is so short.
