A Theatre Legend
Joe Allen's is the mother of all theatre district restaurants. For more than forty years Joe Allen (and its cousins in Paris, London, Toronto, and elsewhere) has been serving up reliable American food at reasonable prices. And if you come in at lunchtime, you may still spot Joe at the bar. The posters on the wall are all from famous flops. Come after a play and the stars you saw on stage may well be sitting at the next table. Reservations required before Wednesday matinees and every night before curtain time. But come at 8:15 and you'll always find a table.
The best
If you only go to one pizzeria in Manhattan, it should be this one. Terrific thin-crust pizza--get one with lots of toppings--and a very fresh salad which easily feeds two. Woody Allen's favorite.
