Chain Drive is a dingy, dark hole-in-the wall that takes one back to the good 'ol days of gay bars! Unpretentious and unapologetic, with great music, cheap prices and a group of regulars that make you feel at home. No, it's not you're typical big-city leather bar, good luck finding that in South/Central Texas! It is the closest you'll find in Austin, however, where gay nightlife has become just another form of entertainment for the self-proclaimed hip, happening crowd.

I'm from out of town (San Antonio) and showed up there early and alone. The staff and manager were very nice and made me feel welcome and right at home! Lots of girls doing the two-step, very well I might add, but not to many guys. In fact, I think all the guys that were there were straight... Or maybe they just didn't like me! In any case, the place seemed nice enough.
