Rain Bar/Club in Austin
First to Review - July 13, 2005 - Visited: July 2005
Although somewhat pleasing to the eye, Rain rates pluses for environment and bar layout. Good use of lighting and somewhat comfortable atmosphere, but what's up with that empty space in the center with all the flashing colored lights beneath it? (Waste of space in a perfectly good lounge atmosphere!)
But, despite its great aesthetics, the "I'm better than you," attitude displayed by bartenders regardless of night, a non-existant bar manager or one unwilling to make himself known when questionable incidents occur, overpriced watered-down drinks, and worst of all recycled late 90's early 2000 videos! (or maybe that's a good thing?) Better luck down the street.
CLOSED: Fabric Bar/Club in Austin
First to Review - July 13, 2005 - Visited: July 2005
Although this review is based on a first time (one time) visit, from what was seen and experienced was beautiful! It's great to feel high end surroundings in our lovely city. A draw for the infrequent visitor at worst! For locals: bartenders who are capable and more than willing to share a smile or pour you a drink worth its price. Roomy, clean and neat, Fabric will one day be a bar to reckon with.
Charlie's Austin Bar/Club in Austin

After countless years of frequenting Charlie's, this is most definately a place to come and hang out. Excellent bartenders, bar staff and door persons. Their extensive and continuous remodeling can only be seen as a plus. Charlie's only downfall(s): 2+ hours for a drag show (2 hours too many in my opinion - good thing the bar is nicely divided to spare the rest of us the agony!) and a cover charge - why??
Chain Drive Bar/Club in Austin
First to Review - July 13, 2005 - Visited: July 2005
The only thing this reviewer can say is Chain Drive used to be a lot better! Gone are the days of Men wanting to socialize, pumping disco, Sunday afternoon happy hours, etc.. It's hard to imagine what could have happend. It's even harder to figure out how it stays open.
Oilcan Harry's Bar/Club in Austin
First to Review - July 13, 2005 - Visited: July 2005
Other than the attitude laiden bar crowd on Friday and Saturday nights, the bar, bartenders, and other bar staff continue to make OCH a staple in the gay community. An old standard that everyone can count on for a good time. Cheers to expanding the men's restroom, Jeers to banashing women to the alley.
