In the mixed up map of same-sex marriage, gay couples in New York City are now traveling to Greenwich to get married. No that’s not Greenwich Village, New York, the site of the Stonewall riots and the birthplace of the modern gay rights movement. It’s the wealthy, lush Manhattan suburb of Greenwich, Conn., a two-hour drive from NYC with few signs of gay life.
Same sex-marriage is still not legal in NY, but has become law in Connecticut. Go figure. At least you can get married now in Connecticut and be back in Manhattan by evening to celebrate.

I’ve actually been to greenwich a bunch and it’s quite nice.
I feel bad for the locals in the article – they want people to stay in town and celebrate there, but people are just getting married and heading back to NY.
I think we should be spending our gay dollars where we are welcomed and not just taking advantage of Connecticut but rewarding NY with our business for the reception / party.
