Castro celebrates World Series victory

No, it was not the Castro Halloween street party. It was the wild San Francisco Giants World Series victory celebration at the corner of 18th and Castro Streets. It was big enough for the cops to shut down the intersection as revelers TP’d the electrical lines while chanting “Let’s Go Giants.” Yes, we are not always original!

The most popular costume was Brian Wilson, the Giants’ charismatic closer with the dyed black beard. Wilson, known for his leather “machine,” has become a national symbol of the gritty team’s tenacity and their embrace of the city’s diversity.
