Equality Illinois: Vote early, vote gay, vote naked

Illinois is one of a handful of states that allows residents to vote by mail before the Nov. 2 election by absentee ballot. Not known for letting great opportunities slip by, staffers at gay rights group, Equality Illinois, were throwing around ideas one day about increasing turnout. “Someone blurted out, ‘It’s so easy to vote now, you can vote in your pajamas,'” recalls Bernard Cherkasov, chief executive officer of Equality Illinois, based in Chicago. “Then someone added, ‘You can even vote naked!'”

Thus was born Voted Naked Illinois, a provocative voter registration campaign featuring a series of photographs and videos of naked voters that has already distributed 400,000 absentee ballots. “Our community has no shortage of talent,” Cherkasov says. “Let’s just say we were no shortage of photographers and beautiful people who would model for free.”

Enjoy the results, but don’t forget to vote!
