New York’s Roxy to close its doors for good

After months of flirtation with closing (Roxy was closed by the place last year for a brief while), Roxy will close its doors forever.

According to John Blair’s website, the building that has housed Roxy will be torn down shortly after their last party March 10th, 2007.

For those of you that have never visited the Roxy, it is (one of) the largest gay nightclubs in North America. Over the years it has hosted a roller rink (and of course, gay disco rollerskating) and as a nightclub its giant dance floor has seen the likes of Madonna, Cher, and legions of pop stars along with some of the hottest DJs liek Frankie Knuckles, Junior Vasquez and more recently Peter Rauhofer.

Roxy, you’ll surely be missed.
