ae2009logo1Looking for a creative excuse to head to warm climes? Look no farther than ArtExplosion, the LGBT festival in Fort Lauderdale, Feb 7-21.

This year’s gathering stars Lily Tomlin and Lea DeLaria. But don’t miss the Black Gay Pride Poetry Slam and works of the Cuban photographer Alex Heria, among other highlights. There’s also screening of the Julian Hernandez’s homoerotic “Broken Sky.

The only drawback? You may not want to drag yourself away from the city’s fabulous beaches.
