V Wine Room Makes The Classy WeHo Boys (Mis)Behave

v-wine-west-hollywoodAmidst the boozy bars and the barrage of beefcake bouncing down the Boulevard of West Hollywood, there sits a break in the bedlam, a blue-blooded bailiwick amidst the bustle of the surrounding burg, where the walls are bursting with bottles filled not with booze, but with a bevy of blancs, blushes, Burgundies, and even a bit of the bubbly.

And there is cheese. Yes, my darlings, delicious cheese.

v-wine-bar-1V Wine Room, a.k.a. just “V,” is but a few quick steps up the hill from the WeHo strip, but step inside the arched door and it becomes a kinder, gentler place. Mikey Consbruck, owner of the delightful shop, told GayCities that V “specializes in California boutique wines, really small wine producers and craft beer breweries.” We must admit that everything sounds fancy with the word “boutique.” Although California can produce some serious wine, and V has a delicious selection. There are two fully licensed sommeliers on staff.

Be not intimidated by the impressive wine list, for V is also the place for those who know wine only by “white” or “red.” Simply tell charming gents behind the bar, such as Alon Burton (above, left) and Trevor Kuhn (above, right) the kinds of tastes you enjoy, and pop! go the corks for you to sample a taste or three. And don’t forget, there is also the cheese, served on lovely wooden slabs, with olives and nuts and cured meats, oh my.

Dress code is very casual, but stepping inside does inspire the desire to behave properly. Although this is still West Hollywood, and we must all have a naughty giggle now and then. (Click to play.)

He is even licking his lips! Goodness, Barkeeper Burton, we blush.
