Who says summer is over? Montréal’s Divers/Cité festival, the premiere Montréal LGBT celebration has just begun. The week-long festival kicked off early this week with a screening of Céline Sciamma’s film, Tomboy at the entrance of Place Jacques-Cartier. The official party started on Monday, but the real fun begins with the return of Divers/Cité’s Flexx party, starting at 5:30 on Thursday, July 31st. Eight hot local artists including Alanna Kraaijeveld, Sarah Lefebvre, David Albert-Toth, Frédéric Tavernini and Anne Thériault are scheduled to perform. Divers/Cité is a full-fledged arts and music festival the whole city gets into. This year’s festival takes over the Old Port by day and Old Montréal by night. A lineup of some of the world’s hottest DJs including Chus & Ceballos, D-Formation (Spain), Prok & Fitch (U.K.), DJ Vibe (Portugal), Ana Paula (Brazil) and Alyson Calagna (Miami) will make Montreal move, sweat and live it up under the summer moon. Comedy and contemporary dance shows offer tourists and locals the opportunity to take in a variety of activities across town. Art fanatics can flock to Les Grandes Murales, an outdoor exhibition featuring photographers JJ Levine, Aydin Matlabi, and Jason Hendrickson throughout the week.
