L.A. And NYC Pride Both Promote Demi Lovato As Next Big Gay Icon

L.A. PRIDE and NYC PRIDE have joined forces for the 45th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots by teaming up to announce the participation of multi-platinum selling recording artists Demi Lovato for both Pride celebrations. Lovato will join the L.A. Pride Parade as Grand Marshal on June 8th before heading out East to headline NYC Pride’s Dance on the Pier on Pier 26. Lovato, who recently portrayed Santana’s lover in four episodes of Glee, has been a longtime advocate of the LGBT community.

Christopher Street West has produced L.A. PRIDE, a series of events celebrating the accomplishments of the LGBT community  for over 40 years.  The organization strives to promote equality and diversity amongst the LGBT community with a three-day event in West Hollywood. This year’s performers include Jennifer Hudson, Azealia Banks, The Bangles, Mary Lambert and Betty Who. Tickets for the June 6-8 events are available at lapride.org.

Dance on the Pier is one of the most anticipated events on the NYC gay calendar. Recent performers have included Deborah Cox, Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson and Cher.  The evening has become NYC Pride’s largest fundraising and community support initiative, awarding over $45,000 in grants to LGBT and LGBT-friendly nonprofits and community organizations each year. NYC Pride runs from June 21-29 and tickets are available at nycpride.showclix.com.
