Tony Award-winning entertainer Billy Porter will host this year’s gala, during which five college-bound high school seniors from the New York Tri-state area will be granted $5,000 scholarships for their demonstrated outstanding leadership. The organization provides youth with opportunities to interact with adults who understand the realities of living openly as a member of the LGBTQ community. The organization was founded by designer Leo Preziosi after he read an article about two students who committed suicide due to hostile school environments. Live Out Loud has brought over 500 LGBTQ role models to area high schools and universities to help cultivate a new generation of queer professionals.
