GayCities new iPhone app: Check In and find where the crowd is going

March 8, 2010 / 3 Comments

We’ve all found ourselves at the wrong bar. Or the right club at the wrong time. Where to go? Whether you find yourself in London (78 gay bars) or Little Rock (5), we figured it should be a lot easier to find your crowd and have one of those great experiences gay men and lesbians are, well, famous for.

So we created a solution. Today we are launching a new version of our iPhone app. You could always find the coolest places closest to you, in over 150 cities around the globe. Now the experience is even more social, allowing you to “check-in” at any place in our city guides, anywhere, letting others know where you are now and what you think of the scene. You can even update your facebook or  twitter status.

Which club has the happpen’ happy hour?  Which shop has the stylish garb? Just click the “nearby activity” feature and find out.

Here are some more of the app’s new features:

More social: People have become the central feature of the app. “Check In,” find your “friends & favorites” and locate who is hanging out where in “nearby activity.”

Redesigned interface: The app is now easier to navigate so that you can quickly find people and places: browse destination pictures, filter listings on the map or suggest a great new listing.

More cities, more listings: GayCities has added dozens of new guides, helping you find everything from that cozy gay diner in Ottawa to the hottest club in Barcelona.

So now you can check out and check in to you fabulous queer world even more easily–and look stylish doing it. So get it now. As usual, please let us know what you think…

Too bad you don’t have an Android app! Iphone does not equal gay…so I hope you have an Android app in the works! Foursquare managed to cross OSs and offer a multi-platform app! Until then…BOO!

We definitely have our sights on Android and you can expect an app later in the year. You may remember that 4sq took quite a while to move to other platforms, it’s a complicated thing to do well, but know that we’re on it.
