Kiss Photo Challenge: And the winner is…

The winning shot in the GayCities Kiss Photo Challenge has a story ripped from the pages of Romeo and Romeo. We caught up with Matthew Phillips (GC member mattiboi2000) to hear how his picture below titled “One English, one American = perfect day in Central Park” came to be, and how he plans to use his grand prize–a two night stay from Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants and romantic dinner for two. We couldn’t resist sharing what he had to say:

“Bobby is an exchange student from Youngstown, Ohio and I am an elementary school teaching student in Winchester, England. Bobby had to go back to America for Christmas break so I arranged to go too and surprise him. We spent the next two weeks together; the time spent in Ohio was interesting–his parents confronted him about being in a relationship with me. His father told him he wanted me out of the house and that Bobby should put me on a bus back to New York where I was flying out of. Bobby told his parents that he had no intention of leaving me, and although he loved them very much, he loves me too. We left that night and drove back to New York. We had an amazing two days in NYC and we went all over; it was as if it was our city. We decided to go to central park where we got a little lost and arrived at the location where the picture was taken. Bobby had just gone to find a bathroom. I was left outside thinking. Bobby had once said that when he had visited the south of France he went to this place where the trees were all leaning overhead and they made a sort of archway. He saw an elderly couple walking through the pathway of curved branches and was taken by how beautiful it was. He told me he wants the same for us in 50 years time. While he was in the bathroom I noticed the trees and thought we could recreate that moment Bobby had seen in France right here in Central Park. I set up the camera on timer and when Bobby came out I told him to walk up the path with me. I told him a joke and he laughed; the camera flashed and that was our picture.”

Cute, eh? We’re pleased as punch to help Matt and Bobby along their journey, and wish them the very best of luck.

Sweet dominated sexy (for once) for the top prizes, but these two honorable mentions certainly spice the room up. They’ll take away three DVDs of their choice from Waterbearer Films. First, this steamy shot from GC member rollingblackouts:

Finally, it wouldn’t be a homo affection photo contest without some representation from Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco. This great voyeuristic shot comes from GC member darwinbell:
