Queer Entrepreneur Launches New LGBT Monthly In Portland, OR

Portland, the hipster haven of Oregon, has been without an LGBT newspaper since Just Out folded in late December. But it looks like there’ll be a new kid in town when PQ Monthly launches February 16.

“With the closing of Just Out, I have been approached by countless community leaders and business people that feel a void in the LGBTQ community needs to be filled,” says owner Melanie Davis (far right), who also publishes El Hispanic News and founded Portland Latino Gay Pride. “My personal commitment, and the commitment from the team, is that every letter and color in the LGBTQ community is equally represented. We are an incredibly diverse community and every voice has the potential to enrich our understanding and add strength to our shared fight for justice and equality.”

PQ Monthly, which will be distributed for free in local businesses and street boxes, celebrates its debut with a party at the Jupiter Hotel on February 16.
