RuPaul Hits The Campaign Trail In New Hampshire

We’re gonna go out on a limb and say every single gay person in New Hampshire was in the Red Arrow Diner Saturday when RuPaul stopped in.

For years, the Arrow has been a popular destination for candidates looking to garner votes, but the Drag Race host—who out of drag for the occasion—had a different message in advance of next week’s primary: “I am not Ron Paul!” he clarifies in the clip above. “And I am not running for president of the United States!”

That’s a shame—Ru would actually make a better Commander in Chief than Ron “I promise I’m not a racist homophobe” Paul—in or out of drag.

Ru is probably using this whistle stop to drum up a little attention for the new season of Drag Race (coming January 30!), but that’s a-okay in our book. We’re gonna need some reality-television feva to get our minds off these GOP nuts and their campaign foolishness.

Of course, that’s not to say there’s not some overlap between drag queens and American politics: As Ru announced to the crowd, “Let us not forget that this great nation was founded by a bunch of men wearing wigs!”
