It comes as no surprise that the boys & girls of Folsom love to show off. To memorialize the biggest fair in its 26 year history–with more than 300,000 people packed into nine square blocks–we sent one of San Francisco’s best chronicler’s of gay life, the photographer Rick Gerharter, to capture folks in all their sweaty, sun-drenched glory. The consensus? It’s one of the few places on earth where you can be completely yourself.

Yannick Desautels and Chadd Andre from Vancouver, BC: "It's a great city with beautiful weather and houses. And so open-minded for a US city. It's great to be here and be yourself. This is our first time at the fair, but the third time in San Francisco this year."
