Over the coming months, we’ll be growing our team and today we are looking for a part-time Editorial Assistant, ideally in San Francisco (our home base), but we’re open to people working from remote locations in the US.

Do you love to travel and love learning about nightlife and restaurants all over the US, Canada & Mexico? GayCities, the city and travel guide website for LGBT travelers is growing and we’re looking for a bright, creative person for a part-time Editorial Assistant position.

ABOUT US
GayCities is an online community site where over 150,000 users each month come to share reviews and photos of bars, hotels, and restaurants in cities across North America (and soon the whole world). GayCities was founded by a former Yahoo! executive and we’ve we recently featured in the New York Times Sunday Travel section and the San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Post and tech blogs like TechCrunch and Inquisitr.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Since we’re a small startup company, our part-time Editorial Assistant will wear many hats. You will help make sure GayCities bar, hotel and restaurants listings are as up-to-date and comprehensive as possible. You’ll read and approve user submissions, write descriptions and make sure each listing has the right level of detail. You’ll read blogs and local magazines to add new listings and remove places that have closed. And if you are game, you’ll write blog posts on the GayCities travel blog. Your effort will directly affect the site and our 150,000 monthly users and they’ll love you for it.

KEY DETAILS
–Part-time 10-20 hours per week (number of hours is flexible based on your availability)
–Pay: $10/hour
–You can work from home if you can show that you able to work independently
–Local to San Francisco preferred, but will consider remote if the person is right.

ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate for our Editorial Assistant position will be detail-oriented, thoughtful, creative and have a strong interest in the LGBT community.

In addition you’ll have:
–Experience as a web editor or writing experience (even if its your own blog)
–Ability to work independently keeping track of multiple things at once
–Web savvy - you know your way around the net and google to find the latest info about a topic
–Strong written and verbal communication skills - your grammar and spelling are at a professional level
–Ability to write concise and complete descriptions of our listings
