Rallying to save beloved SF leather bar

The famed Eagle Tavern, a SF summer staple and local favorite, is fighting to keep its doors open after receiving an eviction noticed from the landlord. Barring a last minute reprieve, the Eagle and its huge outdoor patio are slated to close at the end of the month. A group of  local queers and fans of the SOMA bastion are organizing to save the local institution that is at once a storied leather bar and gathering place for LGBTers of all types.

All may not be lost, however. Last night hundreds of concerned citizens turned out to a town hall meeting at the Eagle, where mayoral candidate Bevan Dufty and local activist Anna Conda led a heated discussion about a last-ditch campaign to save the Eagle.

Check out some images from last night’s meeting, as well as a personal invitation from Anna Conda to come out to Skylark (on 16th Street at Valencia) tomorrow night, Wednesday, for a revival of guerilla queer bar. Pics of the assless chaps sure to flood this bumpin straight club space are sure to follow!
