San Francisco New Years Eve 2010 ideas

   Hey peeps! My man and I are going to be in SF over the upcoming New Years Eve and we're wondering if there are any typical events that you can count on happening every year. Has anything even been planned yet for this year? Also, outside of events, are there any great places to be to catch fireworks shows? How's the weather around that time of year? I know I'm kinda jumping the gun, but I'm a planner...what can I say?

   Contrary to what it is sold through the media, SF is not a gay party town. I dont know where you come from, but in my case coming from South Florida, I expected clubs/bars would not have any difficulty finding patrons considering the huge number of gays in this city. Eventually I realized that nightlife activities were not too popular and most places get empty by 12-1 AM. Also, you will not see too many gay tourists (like you will see in LA or Fort Lauderdale) in clubs. By the way, San Franciscan are not the most welcoming crowd toward tourists in a bar/club setting.

   The weather is cold all year around (like the famous phrase says: I have not experienced a colder winter than a summer in San Francisco). By December is around 40-50 in the evenings. However, every club is equipped with coat checking. The best website to check events is Tobygo.com.
