How did you discover your own gayness?

   I am going through the process of dicovering that I might be gay? What kinds of experiences have other people had? How did you know for sure that you were gay? Me, I am not sure but, the signs are definately pointing in that direction!

   Well, only you can know for sure where your feelings lie. And not everyone is clearcut 100% gay or 100% straight.

   For me, I knew it when I was going through puberty. When I found myself really attracted to the jocks in my school and wouldn't even give girls a second look. I found a porn magazine (guy/girl) and would only look at the naked guy. I moved on to gay porn from there. It took me many years after that before I had my first experience with a guy, but by then I knew that was where it was going.

   I never believed that this was a phase and I don't know that you should either. I saw your other post in the other topic and dealing with having a marriage makes it only that much more difficult. In the end, there's only one way to know for sure - but I would hope that you could find someone local to at least talk it through adn meet some people before jumping to anything rash.

   for me, it was looking at a friend's playboy magazine when i was probably 13 or so. there was a big feature on the movie "blue lagoon," starring brook shields and christopher atkins. my friend was checking out brook shields while i had eyes only for christopher. plus, i was the only boy in my school to like the band abba. :-)

   Chris, this is a complicated and very interesting question. I think I find myself in the category of 100% gay and 0% straight, but there are a lot of people who I believe are multi-sexual. I feel a bit jealous imagining all the stimulation those people can react to. For me, it was obvious early on. I had my first experience when I was in 4th grade. It was with an "older man" in 6th grade who matured early. I can't go into the details here, but let me tell you that it definitely fueled my fantasies. Because of societal pressures, I went through the usual period of denial, but in my heart and in my head, I knew it was real. My turning point was my acceptance of myself. You may find yourself in the category that I call multi-sexual (lucky you!), but in any case, the key to your happiness and enjoyment will come with accepting what is, and ignoring what society tells you should be.

   Through my involvement in ballet. Seeing myself in the mirror doing movements with females, dressed in ballet attire. If we were all wearing tutus I would have been fem like them.

   I remember being in high school as a frosh, and there was this one guy who always looked his best, and halfway through the year, a friend asked me which girl I was taking to the dance. I kinda unconsciously pointed to 'him' and I was like, "him," and my friend was staring at me weird. I asked him, "what?" and he scrunched up his face and said"you're gay?" I guess that was when I realized that, yeah, hey, i AM gay. Things kinda pop up at you sometimes, it's not always 'I only noticed the guys'- the girls just aren't as intersting. :)

   unfortunately only became fully gay about 15 years ago. Was born during an era when one was expected to marry and have a family. Actually began sucking a neighbor my age at 12, and continued to 17. Amazingly we did not think of ourselves as gay!

   Thanks to a wonderful gay man who learned of my situation 15 years ago; was introdued to a wonderful life!

    I knew when I was in the 3rd grade. I had a neighbor about 14 years old who showed me pictures of naked men in a magazine. I could not get enought seeing those naked butts. I tried for years and years to suppress my feelings and finally had my first gay encounter at age 30. I wish I had those years back. All I can say is act on your feelings. You will soon know where your preferences lie.
