I saw "Milk" with my "straight-but-not-narrow" friends and bought it the day it came out on DVD. I know WAY too many gay people who had no idea who he was. I believe that part of a healthy self-esteem as a lesbian/gay is knowing our history. Rosie? Elton? I think not...
MY gay role models? Harvey Milk, Randy Shilts, Larry Kramer and Marty Mann top the list.
BTW- read "The Mayor of Castro Street" and see "The Times of Harvey Milk" documentary. Both are excellent.
I'M glad, too, that "someone finally spoke up and said something"- and it was a straight man who's on our side.... I wish all of our "passion for gay rights" was as strong.....
Harvey said, "If a bullet should enter my brain, let it destroy every closet door" Mine's off the f**kin' hinges!
Discussion, anyone??? :-)
