Granted I never been to 5 of the 7 continents (Ok Asia if you count Istanbul), but I can't imagine a place that has been better or well preserved. Also despite popular opinion I find the French to very friendly and helpful. It's only when you act that a ignorant American tourist that they tend to get upset. Also the gay scene in Paris, while not as vibrant or widespread as in London, seems offer something for almost everybody no matter what you are into.
