I attended the parade, and was frankly quite disappointed. There were NO floats to speak of, the decorations on vehicles were no more than the odd colored balloon, and not a single Pride flag on Stephen Ave lamp posts. The only noticeable support for the community was a Canadian pride flag waving from the Hyatt Regency. The parade itself was over in minutes and seemed smaller than ever.</p> <p>There was little promotion in the city for the planned events and the dance was held at Belgo which isn't even a gay bar! I am all for support from local businesses but would have preferred Twisted given its a gay establishment with a sizable dance floor.</p> <p>I moved here 5 years ago and Pride at that time seemed to be a much celebrated event on 17th ave sw. I remember seeing flags on the lamp posts, in business windows and even Edmonton bars and businesses participated.
