Take root in the face of adversity. Turn your face towards the sun, and blossom into a leader . . .
The LGBTQA+ Welcome Assembly is the first event of many at the University of Florida during this year’s “Weeks of Welcome”, a campus-wide series of festivities meant to acclimate first-year, transfer, and graduate students to life in the Gator Nation.
Consisting of live dance groups, singers, spoken word artists, local queer activists, raffles, drag queens, and speeches from this year's Pride Student Union executive board, the LGBTQA+ Welcome Assembly showcases the vibrancy of the queer community both at UF and in the greater Gainesville area. It is here that students can plant the seed for the rest of their college career, allowing them to bloom.
Regardless of your sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression, the Gator Nation provides an inclusive environment for ALL students. It provides that home away from home we are all seeking.
Whether you're a new student or a returning student, come and experience the next generation of LGBTQ leaders at the 2014 Welcome Assembly. Regardless of what you wish to pursue, you will have the opportunity to come into your own here at UF.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and food will be served by Classic Fare Catering.
