I would agree Karl is not a good business man, but the people who throw the once a month Party Blow Pony have it down, Mixed queer crowd, mixed music, two separate levels, good host, good stage shows, mixed queer dancers, friendly door host and I have actually seen one of the host (I think his name was Airick?) take the stage at the anti prop 8 protest and give a heart warming speech on unity in our queer community, so yeah I support them strongly as they also support and give back to our community.
thanks for creating a friendly loving space for us all, nothing like the surrounding clubs in town.

I have only gone to Blow Pony nights (once a month). This is a mixed queer event. The gay men do not push me aside like other gay bars, or the one "lesbian joint". I was told that I could get on stage and that I could do a Betty Page routine. That was super cool guys thanks. However, but my intended audience, the transmen, male identified and queer women have a problem with Femmes. They are intimidated by a femme in leather, and backed away from the stage. That goes for just about every club in PDX. However Blow Pony is a night where if you are a masculine woman or transman, it appears to be a great time. Gay men dancing with "queer" women, and the transmen (some hooking up?? -yea I don't get that either). Now where else can you find that kind of unity in the queer commmunity? If it is not at Blow Pony, you will not find it anywhere else. Believe me I go clubbing at least once a week.

went for an event being hosted by locals called "queer bait" on my last visit to portland and left wanting to head back to better, more offensive atmospheres like the ones in n.y.c. or san francisco. the boys were pretentious, annoying, and anything but john waters material like they were most likely aiming for. for good nights in portland i suggest heading to any bar because most places, i've found, are all inclusive and dandy for people watchers.

came into the new location upon return to PDX after being gone a year.
staff were busy preping for their blow pony event and barely acknowledged my presence. space is poorly planned and was empty most of the time i was there. felt like i was being told to blow the joint (no, i mean leave). not very welcoming. very disappointing. Will check out the other eagle on lombard tonight, maybe it's the real thang.
