What we say
New location after losing their lease
After 26 years at an amazing location, the owners of Metro lost their lease and moved down the street to a more dark, cramped location - the owner calls it "basic, funky, and comfortable."

Great place near Church and Market Sts. Good people, honest drinks and pool players. I like the Sunday afternoon softball crowd. And there is usually a BQ or just a buffet. Nice folks

This was a great find on a recent visit.
Church and Market area of San Francisco.
2 terrific pool tables and easy access by public transportation It's also walking distance to the Castro and surrounded by some wonderful resteraunts: Home, Chow, and Crepe Vine
beware of the daytime/early evening crowd, though. They can be very stern and bitter--and 'dicey' at best. Go later in the evening when this crowd has staggered home.

....and getting better, Yes it's been there for AGES as the "Expansion" but Mario & David are working very hard to update (but not lose) an old Upper Market delight! 2 brand new pool tables are giving the Pilsner (across the St,) a rub for serious players, and Woody the Bartender pours whatteva you 'lil heart desires. Great at all times, esp. 5-7P since it's ON TOP of the Church/Market Metro (all 5 lines pass thru/near here). Personal rating: 85%
