There's been a lot of air play lately about Panama being a good place for retirement. Anyone have any experience with the country, real estate and its gay culture?

Panama City is not the place to rent an apartment and go to a beach on a bike. The city is crowded. However, there are also some other areas of the country (countryside) that allows you to do that. Are you still into that?

I'm open to any Caribbean location where can rent a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment in a quiet neighborhood, within bicycle distance of a nice beach, restaurants and shopping for $800/mo or less, Dec through April. Needs to be in a Gay Friendly community with a gay social scene of some sort ;) Suggestions?
