San Francisco, CA, December, 19, 2011 -- GayCities -- the world's largest LGBT community-driven city guide and travel site -- today announced nominees in its annual "Best of GayCities" challenge presented by American Airlines. (http://www.gaycities.com/best-of-2011/)
GayCities users have until January 4 to vote for their favorite cities in eight categories, ranging from "Best Resort Town" to "Best Food City." One lucky GayCities member will receive two round trip coach tickets courtesy of American Airlines to the city of their choice and lodging for two nights anywhere American flies in North America (excluding Hawaii and Alaska).
"It is the contributions of GayCities members that have made GayCities into the number one site to explore urban areas around the world," said Scott Gatz, CEO of GayCities. "So it is only fitting that they should choose the best of the best, and in the process help each other find the best experiences where they live and travel. We're eager to provide the platform for their recommendations."
"As a global airline, American is proud to partner with GayCities," said Cynthia Barnes, director, diversity markets, at American Airlines. "American Airlines welcomes LGBT travelers and encourages them to experience memory-making travel to many of the world’s greatest cities."
Nearly fifty cities, from San Francisco to Rome, received nominations. Selections were based on thousands of reviews, fans and check-ins this year by GayCities members across the globe. The voting results of the GayCities community and the winner of the vacation package will be announced on January 5. Each winning city will receive a special badge on the home page of its GayCities guide.
